As with membership for any sporting club, there are a number of requirements that we have to ensure that all members appreciate for the minimum expectations that all members have for one another. This is not to exclude anyone, but to ensure responsible membership and a safe environment to all who use our facilities and grounds. The following sets out our recommended guide to membership, steps 2, 3 & 4 can be interchanged to suit your schedule, but we require step 1 to be your first point of call and strongly recommend only completing step 5 only after you have completed all other steps. |
Joining Pacific Bowmen starts with all prospective members joining us for an Introduction and coaching day. Whether an experienced shooter or totally new to archery, all potential members must complete this requirement.
Experienced shooters are encouraged to bring their own equipment and will gain an appreciation for our facilities and expected shooting etiquette.
New shooters will gain the confidence to handle a bow and understand the safety expectations for our sport whilst in the capable hands of our qualified coaches.
Following your attendance at an introduction and coaching day, you effectively become a probationary member of Pacific Bowmen. Our requirement is that you complete the remaining steps to full membership within 3 months of commencing your probationary membership.
When registering for your introduction & coaching day you will be asked to provide your details which will form the basis for your probationary membership and ability to log in to the Pacific Bowmen Website, please keep a record of your log in for ongoing future use.
The fees for our introduction & coaching day is $60 per person to cover the time and costs of our volunteer coaches who provide this service and our upcoming schedule can be found here.
Following your intro/coaching day you will be permitted to attend up to 3 club shoots, before you need to commit to membership, these allow you an opportunity to decide whether archery and our club are right for you.
Attending a club shoot also allows prospective members to fully appreciate the styles of archery that we typically engage being field and 3d archery.
Our schedule for monthly club shoots can be found here.
Once you’ve decided that archery and Pacific Bowmen is the right fit for you it’s then time to join our affiliated association, the Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA). The ABA is a nationally recognised association which advocates for both the rights of its members and the sports of bowhunting and field archery in general.
Further details for the ABA and Membership can be found on their website at www.bowhunters.org.au.
Your ABA membership covers both your insurance requirements whilst on club grounds together with our club insurance requirements. Once you have received confirmation of your ABA membership you will be required to provide proof of your membership (either a copy of your membership card or receipt) details to our Membership Secretary via email at pacbowmen@gmail.com.
4. Attend a Working BeeAs maintaining our facilities and grounds are a responsibility for all members, probationary members are therefore required to attend a working bee as their penultimate step in achieving full club membership. Our working bees allow new members to further appreciate the behind the scenes efforts that go into maintaining our successful club. Our schedule for monthly working bees can be found here. |
If for any reason you need further guidance on the process for membership or any other queries, please don't hesitate to get in contact with us at pacbowmen@gmail.com. |
